The classes will include guidance from a Hollywood acting coach.

Youth from grades five through college can take the free workshop, which was made possible from the Imagine Arts Endowment.

Greg Miller, Professor of Fine Arts at The University of Rio Grande, coordinates the workshop. Seth Argabright and Minda Hager will assist him.

“As with most of us, I fell into this path of teaching and directing actors at a very early age with the help of many mentors. Eventually, after teaching school in LA for a couple years, my kitchen became the classroom for many young stars and starlets… Like Patrick Swayze, Mary Kay Place and athletes like Greg Louganis and Mitch Gaylord,” said Hollywood Acting Coach Candy Kaniecki who will be leading the acting workshop from June 6-9.

According to Kaniecki’s website, her students have gone on to be cast in shows like Criminal Minds, Modern Family, Days of Our Lives, Bates Motel, NCIS, and Grey’s Anatomy.

Kaniecki says that there are continually changing standards expected of actors, even for the smallest roles. “These actors are coached for every single audition, upping the competition dramatically. Solid training in breaking down material, learning to execute a set of sides while also making the most your strengths is what we do best,” she said of her approach.

“Over the past 30 years, I’ve seen trends in casting come and go. We stay current with what works in today’s market by effectively evaluating the results of our daily coaching,” she continued.

Parents and guardians of the students taking the workshop are invited to attend a Question Session with Kaniecki on June 9, at 7 p.m. at The Markay, 269 E. Main St., Jackson. Kaniecki will answer questions regarding getting into the acting field and how to get youth cast.

Kaniecki will hold the first week of classes from June 6-9. The next two weeks, June 13-16 and June 20-23, students in the acting workshop will continue under the guidance of Greg Miller, Seth Argabright and Minda Hager.

On June 23, at 7 p.m. there will be a performance of those students in the workshop to show off what they have learned on the Markay stage. Students will be performing monologues, singing, and acting in “Small Town, Big Dreams.”

Free acting workshop for youth to be offered in June Posted: Sunday, May 29, 2016 3:30 pm | Updated: 9:44 pm, Mon May 30, 2016….
